Devika Shankar (she/her) is a transnational feminist, organizer, and passionate advocate for justice. She is a Certified Facilitator of The Resilience Toolkit, and is certified in the state of California in Domestic Violence Counseling for Survivors.
For over 12 years, Devika has worked with youth, women of color, immigrant, and LGBTQ survivors providing counseling, support services, and advocacy, and over the past 4 years, has worked with individuals who do harm in relationships, as well. As the Program Supervisor of the STOP Violence Program at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, a program that provides culturally specific and responsive counseling and support services to LGBTQ victims of crime, Devika also provides training, education, consultation, and technical assistance to domestic violence/intimate partner violence (DV/IPV) shelter programs, LGBTQ organizations, and various other services provider organizations on many topics, including DV/IPV in LGBTQ communities, healthy relationships, and trauma-informed approaches.
Since 2017, Devika has been an organizer with AF3IRM, a women of color-led, transnational feminst, anti-imperialist organization that mobilizes around im/migration, anti-trafficking/sexual exploitation, and anti-militarism and state violence. She currently serves as one of three Co-Coordinators of AF3IRM’s Los Angeles Chapter.
