Arrowyn Ambrose (she/her) is a Level III Certified Facilitator and Certification Trainer of The Resilience Toolkit. She is certified as a Teaching Artist, Race Equity and Healing Justice Facilitator, and Storytelling Circle Facilitator. She has a degree in liberal studies from Antioch University with an emphasis on creative non-fiction, addiction studies, and urban justice. She is working on an MA in Depth Psychology and Creativity at Pacifica Graduate Institute and is studying Somatic Movement Therapy. Arrowyn believes in the healing power of story and is passionate about ethical storytelling and play, along with trauma-informed and resilience-oriented healing and growth.
Arrowyn began her career as the Program Director of The Young Storytellers in 2004, a theatrical writing and production program for elementary-aged children. In 2013 she created Story Circles, a responsive and powerful social-emotional program that used improvisational games, poetry, personal narrative, and storytelling circle processes to create “pockets of compassion” where high school students, youth impacted by oppressive systems, teachers, and administration could practice compassion, connection, and courage. Other work took her into maximum security prisons, probation camps, and social justice organizations to work with marginalized and often forgotten stories.
At Lumos Transforms, Arrowyn specializes in guiding organizations towards enduring transformative change. Additionally, she empowers individuals in mentorship as a member of the trainer team for The Resilience Toolkit Alliance Facilitator Certification Program. She is particularly interested in supporting people struggling with substance misuse and compulsive behaviors. Through her work, Arrowyn delves into the profound intersectionality of play-based workshops grounded in nourishing movement, personal narrative, trauma-informed principles, and social justice. This integrated approach serves as a powerful catalyst for healing and fosters creativity among participants, empowering them to thrive in their personal growth, professional development and well-being.
She is a single mother of a wonderful little person, writes poetry, creative non-fiction, takes copious dance classes, and dreams of tsunamis most nights. Lately, there has been a surfboard, which she sees as growth..
