#BLACKFRIDAYS – Resilience for The Resistance with Ije Ude
November 2, 2018 @ 12:30 pm - 1:15 pmFree
In solidarity with the #BLACKFRIDAYS Rage to Change movement, Lumos Transforms is hosting a series of virtual gatherings on Fridays until consumer Black Friday on November 23rd.
In the aftermath of the Kavanaugh hearings, many Americans are experiencing very real suffering. The public airing of assault stories, the elevation of predators, and the seeming lack of humanity displayed by our top officials and fellow citizens has sent many people spiraling with symptoms of anxiety and depression. At the same time, the brazen disregard for the experiences of womxn has awoken a fire and many are feeling angrier and more galvanized than ever.
At Lumos Transforms we know that actively opposing institutions and ideologies that create and perpetuate trauma is vital to creating more just and healthy societies. History has shown us that large-scale change takes time, and unfortunately, we also know that resistance is a limited resource. No one can hold on forever.
How do we stay mentally and emotionally balanced during what may be a long fight? How can we make sure we don’t shut down or burnout?
Wear black and join us for a series of virtual gatherings where we discuss how to build a resilient resistance movement. We’ll hold space to learn, share, and support each other.
